“Every day I discover more and more beautiful things. I have such a desire to do everything, my head is bursting with it.”
Claude Monet
I understand Monet completely. My eyes seek out color, light, form and natural beauty. It is something beyond my control and is found so easily. Great joy is obtained from using paint and paper to capture it. I am just the happiest when painting. And since my first watercolor in 9th grade art class, the magic of watercolor fascinates me. You nurture it and it surprises you! It’s like Venetian glass beads; you don’t know exactly how they will look until they’ve annealed. I also dabble in oil painting especially when enjoying plein air opportunities.
Painting really chose me and I see paintings in landscapes, waterscapes, flowers, the play of shadows and light, and in objects on a table! I have been painting with more focus for over 20 years. My current project is a series of whimsical animals in oil.
I have had the opportunity to study under many wonderful artists through the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pa and the Delaplaine Art Center in Frederick, Md.
I am an associate member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society as well as a member of the Frederick County Art Association. I have been involved in the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation’s annual Barnstormers Paint Outs for over 5 years.
And again, Claude Monet, “I would like to paint the way a bird sings.”
